Week-long celebration of traditional music, dance, language and folklore
The Island's Celtic music, song and dance festival Yn Chruinnaght, makes its return later this month.
Now in its 49th year, it is a week-long celebration of traditional music, dance, language and folklore.
Meaning 'The Gathering' in Manx Gaelic, Yn Chruinnaght brings together people from across the Celtic nations of Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, Brittany and the Isle of Man.
This year’s performers include Manx/Irish duo Isla Callister and Cathal Ó Curráin, Orcadian musicians Saltfishforty, Welsh mother and daughter Delyth and Angharad Jenkins on harp and fiddle, Manx Gaelic groove from Clash Vooar, young Dublin band Filidh, the Mega Manx Ceili Band and Scottish accordion legend Sandy Brechin.
A special focus for 2026 will also be on Blein ny Gaelgey – the Year of the Manx Language, and Culture Vannin’s Manx Language Summer School.
This year’s festival takes place from 27 July – 2 August.
Chloe Woolley is from the organising committee; she's been telling Howard Caine more:
You can hear more of that conversation in the latest edition of Spotlight, available as a podcast now.
