Youngster loses battle with genetic disorder
Sophie Birtles, the young girl whose last wish was to receive a message from her idol Katie Perry, has died.
13 year old Sophie was a patient at Rebecca House, and a huge social media campaign was launched in May to put her in touch with the superstar singer.
This week, students from St Ninian's High School's Young Enterprise Group launched wristbands to raise money for the children’s hospice in Braddan.
The wristbands are on sale at the Grandstand during TT and at the Creg Ny Baa.
This was the message Katie sent to her fan:
Thank you everyone who shared, liked and retweeted. Katy Perry has noticed Sophie. #YoureAFireworkSophie? pic.twitter.com/y724XR6Cu1
