Only second time in history race has been called off when meeting has taken place
The 2025 Senior TT Race has been cancelled.
It's only the second time in the event's 118-year history - with the exception of world wars, foot & mouth disease in 2001, and the Covid pandemic in 2020 and 2021 - that the race hasn't been held.
The only other time the race was called off when the meeting took place was in 2012.
The 1954 Senior race did start but was then stopped and cancelled due to high winds.
A number of riders went out on this evening's course inspection lap prior to when the race was meant to take place.
After that, there were mixed reviews from competitors when they spoke to Radio TT:
After the announcement of the cancellation from Clerk of the TT Course, Gary Thompson, among those who gave their reaction to the news to Radio TT were 2024 Senior TT champion Davey Todd and double winner this year, Dean Harrison:
As a result, this also marks the end of the 2025 Isle of Man TT Races as organisers confirmed earlier today that the contingency session tomorrow (8 June) will not be able to be used due to forecast poor weather combined with more limited road closure periods.
Officials say this evening's decision follows a course inspection lap and consultation with a number of competitors.
Furthermore, organisers say a further statement will be issued in due course.
