Athletics: Dom King breaks course record to win End to End Walk

Hannah Moore takes impressive win in women's race

UK race-walker Dom King took victory in style in the annual End to End Walk at the weekend.

The Colchester Harriers man crossed the line in six hours eleven minutes and 24 seconds, breaking the course record in the process.

It beats the previous benchmark by over the 13 minutes which had been set by Michael George in 2013.

It comes after King had considered retirement from the contest at the 20km point as he battled with sickness and a hamstring problem which he was able to battle through.

Meanwhile, Simon Gawne and Dean Morgan finished second and third respectively with excellent performances to put them second and fourth respectively in the all-time best times for the 20-year-old race.

Elsewhere, Hannah Moore put in a huge display to win the women's race and finish seventh overall in a time of seven hours, 21 minutes and ten seconds.

In doing so she beat her previous best from 2020 by more than 90 minutes.
