He also beats previous IoM record set in 2013
Manx athlete David Mullarkey has made Isle of Man history by beating the four-minute mile barrier in recent competition.
Mullarkey managed to clock a time of three minutes 58.71 seconds at the University of Birmingham Track & Field Festival last Saturday (9 July).
In the process he also smashed his previous personal best time set in 2019 by 34 seconds, finishing fourth out of eleven athletes taking part in last weekend's event.
His achievement beats the previous IoM record set by Keith Gerrard in 2013 by 9.52 seconds.
David Mullarkey is also set to represent the Isle of Man at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham this summer.
The games will be taking place from 28 July to 8 August.
