Auld firm showdown awaits - again!

Manx football’s traditional powerhouses will clash in Boxing Day’s Parkinson Railway Cup Final.

In a repeat of last year’s showpiece, ‘auld firm’ rivals Rushen and Peel will meet at the Bowl.

The holders booked their place after a dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over St Mary’s at Croit Lowey, while Peel came from behind to win 2-1 at Laxey.

Rushen and St Mary’s couldn’t be separated after 120 minutes of football.

Steven Priestnal fired the Saints ahead midway through the first half, from the penalty spot, before Josh Kelly levelled on the stroke of half-time.

Two evenly matched sides couldn’t grab a winner and Rushen goalkeeper Grant Dawson was the hero as they triumphed on spot-kicks.

There was also drama at Glen Road as Laxey took a second half lead through Ashley Webster.

The score stayed like that until around 15 minutes from time before Peel showed their class.

Within five minutes Terry Rigaux had levelled matters and then set up the winner for Johnny Myers as the westerners booked their place.
