Several other Manx players also shine at Leigh Sports Village
Manx badminton player Alex Buck helped the Isle of Man squad to gold medal success during the latest Lancashire Senior Bronze competition in England.
Contesting the Open Singles tournament at Leigh Sports Village, Buck won all of his Group C matches in straight sets on the way to a three-set win over number one seed Kishen Lee (21-14, 14-21, 21-17) in the final to take top spot.
Elsewhere, fellow Island competitor Annelise Mellor also managed a clean sweep of victories in her Women's Singles group getting all the way to the semi-finals before a straight-set loss to Sarah Fisher.
There was also a positive showing from Emma Nicholson and Charlotte Watson in the Women's Doubles as the pairing topped their group and reached the quarter-finals before defeat to Charlotte Forbes and Sophie Taylor.
Isle of Man Badminton Association is describing the event as an 'overall great performance' for the Isle of Man squad.
