A key figure in the Manx biking community says moves to increase spectator safety at events like the TT would have to be balanced against the loss of appeal for the event.
Harvey Garton, chairman of the Manx Motorcycle Club, was commenting on the incident on Senior Race day in which a competitor lost control of his machine at Bray Hill and 10 spectators were injured.
A number are still in hospital.
Mr Garton says much of the appeal of the TT is being able to get close to the action.
