Better rewards for fewer MHKs?

A candidate for the general election in September has been suggesting ways of improving the calibre of politicians in the Isle of Man.

David Talbot, who is an accountant by profession, says the present pay structure means a high earner in the 'prime of life' would have to take a considerable cut in earnings to become a member of the House of Keys.

Mr Talbot, who is contesting the single-seat constituency of Michael, says better rewards for a smaller number of MHKs might be the solution (listen to audio file below):

There are three candidates in Michael so far, the others being Alf Cannan and Paul Heavey.
