Cav and Wiggins edged out in London

Now for Ghent, says Manx Missile

The Manx Missile Mark Cavendish and Sir Bradley Wiggins were edged out in the Six Day London Madison last night (Sunday).

They had to settle for second spot in what was billed as Wiggins’ final race on British soil.

A slipped hand-sling changeover cost them. The pair were beaten by defending champions Moreno de Pauw and Kenny de Ketele of Belgium.

Wiggins plans to retire after the Six Day event in Ghent next month, although he hinted at a possible change of heart.

Cavendish hopes he can help give Wiggins' a winning send-off in Ghent - the city of his birth.

‘We're in top condition and know we can go to Ghent ready to win,’ he said.
