Cavendish lays down Olympic marker

Mark Cavendish has laid down a marker for next year’s Olympics by claiming victory in the London 2012 road race test event.

The ‘Manx Missile’ dismissed his triumph as a true indication of his chances of taking gold in next year's games.

However, the Isle of Man sprinter described his team as ‘incredible’ and the best cycling squad Great Britain has ever had.
