Champs launch title defence
Three second half goals ensured the champions overcame a potentially tricky test to launch their defence of the Canada Life Premier League.
Johnny Myers, Ciaran McNulty and Callum Morrisey grabbed the goals as St George’s won 3-0 at new-look Rushen.
Last year’s Golden Boot winner Josh Kelly hit five as last season’s runners-up Peel won 9-2 at Ramsey.
Stevie Glover marked his return to St Mary’s with a hat-trick in a 5-2 success at Ayre, while Old Boys saw off the spirited challenge of newly promoted Marown with a 4-2 triumph at Crosby.
Elsewhere, Laxey overcame a half-time deficit to see off Corinthians and St John’s and the pother newly promoted club, Ramsey Youth Centre, shared four goals.
