Corinthians take pole position

Reigning champions Corinthians have moved to the top of the MBL Women’s League.

That’s after a 13-0 demolition of Colby on Sunday.

Megan Loughran (three), Kiera Morgan (three), Alsivania McGreggor (two), Stephanie Hall (two), Anna Dillon (two) and Sarah O’Reilly were all on target.

In the other league match, Miroslova Brigantova hit a hat-trick as Gymns ran out 7-0 winners over Peel.

Island captain Gill Christian netted two and there was one each from Eleanor Gawne and Rhiannon Brew.

In the MBL Floodlit Cup, holders Douglas Royal launched their defence of the competition with an emphatic 13-1 win over Ramsey.

Five goals from Donna Shimmin, a hat-trick from Becci Pate, doubles from Bekki Cole and Sarah Breen and a solitary Kym Hicklin goal ensured a rout.

The northerners’ consolation came from Bekkie Colquitt.

Nine-player DHSOB battled hard in their group A tie at Castletown but in the end the southerners were too strong, emerging 5-1 winners.

Justine Carran (two), Alexis Teare, Sharon Whitehouse and an own goal secured victory for Town.

Old Boys, who were level at the break, scored through regular markswoman Rachael Warrilier-Grant.
