Cronkbourne go top

Cronkbourne are top of the Isle of Man Premiership.

They had a narrow two wicket win over Castletown while their main rivals, reigning champions Peel and St John’s, were beaten by Crosby.

Castletown were dismissed for 104, mainly thanks to some stirring bowling from Nick Keiswetter who took five for 15 from eight overs.

However, Town fought back with Tom Burrows claiming four for 10.

Cronkbourne struggled to 52 for six and then 91 for eight before a calm Adam Killey guided the side home with 22 not out.

Danny Kniveton was in splendid form for Crosby. He crashed an excellent 75 not out as the Marown team ended on 191 for four.

In reply, Ollie Webster and Akkie van den Berg got Peel and St John’s away to a flier.

They had a 50 opening stand before wickets began to fall.

Stu Morris claimed three victims and there was some fine fielding as the Saints fell to 120 all out.

Ramsey won their first game of the season when they beat Valkyres by 48 runs.

The northerners made 154 with Andy Ball hitting 54.

Ryan Windell kept Valkyres’ hopes alive with a well struck 37, but few batsmen had an answer to Will Moffatt who finished with five for 34.
