Cup joy for Castletown and Peel

Castletown won the Standard Bank Tinker Cup when they beat Ramsey by seven wickets at King William’s College yesterday.

The northerners batted first and were dismissed for 90 – Garreth Roome took three wickets.

Castletown knocked off the runs for the loss of three wickets, with John Short hitting 57 not out.

There was another seven-wicket win yesterday when Peel B defeated Valkyres in the Blincoe Cup Final at Mullen-e-Cloie.

The westerners scored 161 for 6 in their first innings.

Colin Gilbert was in form with 57 and Matt Wozniak made 52.

Valkyres replied with 128 and then made 127 in their second innings.

Adnan Khan played well, cracking 33 and 37.

Peel were then set 94 to win in their second innings.

A 27 from Alex Williamson and 19 by Grant Elbourne guided them home in style.

Adnan Khan again impressed with 5 wickets in the game for 21 runs.
