Cycling prize presentation and memorial ride

Under-23 Great Britain cycling manager Max Sciandri is the guest of honour at the Isle of Man Cycling Association's annual dinner and prize presentation at Mount Murray this evening (Saturday).

Also on hand will be the cream of Manx cycling, including Mark Cavendish, with his Commonwealth Games team-mates Andrew Roche, Graeme Hatcher, bronze medal winner Mark Christian, Tom Black and Chris Whorrall.

Fellow stars Peter Kennaugh and Jonny Bellis are due to be there too.

Before the festivities, there's the important matter of the James Berry Memorial Ride.

James was killed in a tragic accident at Greeba in December 2005, when he was struck by a wheel which had come off a lorry.

There is no set fee for taking part in the ride, but entrants are invited to donate to the fund set up in memory of James, who was 13 when he died.

The longer route (50 miles) starts from Douglas Fire Station on Peel Road at 9am.

A shorter, 25-mile route starts from the Farmer’s Arms car park in St John's, an hour later.

Both aim to finish in St John’s before midday.
