Cycling: Tommy Bass wins at European Youth Cycling Tour

Island rider takes victory in U15 class in Assen

Young Isle of Man rider, Tommy Bass has taken victory at the 2026 European Junior Cycling Tour.

The Island competitor - representing Team RL360 Isle of Man - took top spot in the Boys U15 class during last week's meeting in Assen, Netherlands.

Having taken a 19-second lead into the final road racing stage, Bass went on to finish fifth in the last phase to become the first Manx rider to take first place at the tour.

That followed a tour which hadn't been without challenges over the previous days - on day one he was involved in a crash but recovered to then win on day two.

Furthermore, his efforts led him to take the yellow jersey by a two-second advantage on day three having started that day 45 seconds back on the two leaders to that point.

The penultimate event on day four saw him finish second during a 12km time trial phase which gave him his near 20-second lead going into the final road race where he held on to take the title.

More broadly, he was one of multiple Team RL360 Isle of Man riders taking on the various classes across the meeting which also included the likes of Austin Baglow, Jenson Baglow, Daniel Minay and Thomas Hutchinson.
