Darts: Isle of Man off to Guernsey for inaugural competition

Several international debuts for local players

The Isle of Man's darts teams are preparing to take part in an inaugural competition in Guernsey over the coming days.

Twenty players will represented the Island at the first ever Islands International, being held at the St Pierre Park Hotel in the crown dependency from Friday to Sunday (27-29 January).

The ladies team will include four members of the Island women's squad which competed at the WDF Europe Cup in September and October last year.

Captain Margaret Kelly, Nikki Bardsley, Janine Halsall and Rachel Robertson will be joined by Sophe Moore, debutant Sophie Hicklin and experienced international Wendy Andrews.

Meanwhile, the men's side will see eight players make their international debuts with several senior players currently unavailable.

Among the experienced heads are captain Mark Venables, Alan Young, Willie Biggane, Walter McCarthy and Tony Kennaugh.

The new faces linking up with them will be Steve Moran, Ben Brogan, Robbie Lawson, Kevin Briggane, Jack Saxon, Jak Stott, Ryan Teare and John Halsall.
