Emerging Nomads travel to Port-e-Chee
After being nilled by Southern Nomads last Saturday Douglas Celts get an opportunity to get a win in the bank when Emerging Nomads make the trip to Port-e-Chee.
Normally it would be unusual for Emerging Nomads to be in the mix at the start of a season however some solid performances got them a top three finish in the Manx Shield last year and this is their reward.
Douglas will fancy their chances however and while the scoreboard last week showed a 26-0 defeat, they had chances aplenty and the deficit was two tries in each half which in rugby terms is insignificant.
In the Shimmin Wilson Manx Bowl, a rejuvenated Vagabonds B head south to take on Castletown at Poulsom Park.
Vagas only fielded a side twice last season, however, against Ramsey B a fortnight ago not only did they have a team, but a handy looking one at that.
Joe Louw and Ollie Swindlehurst provided grunt front with Tom Rowley marshalling the back line under the watchful eye of skipper Ollie Morris.
They faded a little late in the game but by then had racked up a big lead.
Town haven’t played yet this season which means Vagas should have the advantage in terms of match fitness.
