Douglas lose at Northwich

Vagabonds mauled at Marple

Douglas went down 30-17 away at Northwich in their first game of 2018 and dropped to seventh place in the North One West standings in the process.

In what is a heavily congested league table, just 12 points separate the top nine sides.

Douglas welcome Wilmslow to Port-e-Chee next week and will hope to recover some lost ground.

2018 didn’t start well for Vagabonds as they went down 52-5 away at Marple in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division Two.

John Reilly crossed for the consolation try for Vagas who remain bottom ahead of next week’s trip to 10th place Congleton.

With phase one of South Lancashire/Cheshire Division Three nearing its end, Ramsey picked up a bonus point win against Oxton Parkonians.

Dan Bonwick’s early score got Ramsey ahead before Paul Hillan hit back for the visitors.

Bonwick’s second reclaimed the lead and Johnny Mason then went over to put Ramsey 15-5 ahead at the break.

Dale Radcliffe secured the bonus point for the Mooragh Park hosts late in the second half and Josh Corteen’s first senior try iced the cake. Bonwick converted both.

Andy Smith grabbed a late try for Parkonians with the final play of the game but it was little more than a consolation.
