Douglas Royal triumph on day of shocks

It was a day for Douglas Royal to enjoy in CFS Division Two.

They thrashed Onchan 8-0 at Noble’s Park and, with leaders Ayre and second placed Marown both defeated, it could be a key step towards promotion.

Gavin Gawne led the rout with a hat-trick, Dave Skillen hit two, Craig Dolman and Chris Anderson grabbed one apiece and there was also an own goal.

Ayre still lead the table but northern bragging rights were with Ramsey Youth Centre after they overturned a half-time deficit to defeat their rivals 4-2.

Goals from Aidan Cummins, Connal Hughes against his former club, Matthew Boyde and Steven Oates secured the points for the home side.

Jason Craine and Phil Quayle had fired Ayre 2-1 in front at half-time.

Pulrose stunned Marown at Crosby.

Goals from David Priestnal, Chris Cowin (pen) and Ben Cowin showed Pulrose’s ability and was another blow for Marown who seem to be struggling as the season reaches its business end.

Ronaldsway caused the other surprise of the day with a 3-2 home win over Braddan.

Peter O’Brien, John O’Brien and Dwayne Dawson were the scorers and, although James Cain netted both for Braddan, it was the Rockets who took victory.

A second half goal from Steve Tidy earned Malew the points at the Police, while Douglas and District battled hard but Foxdale won 2-1 at Groves Road.

Willie Woods and Andy Glover were the Foxdale scorers.

Jordan Meades netted for D&D.
