Douglas taste first defeat

Douglas suffered their first defeat of the season in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division One on Saturday.

They went down to a disappointing 33-10 loss at Wigan – a try from Ben Webb, converted by Riccardo Poloni, who also hit a penalty, was their only bright spot.

There was also disappointment for Ramsey in Cheshire (South), who at least gained a bonus point in their 39-24 defeat at Dukinfield.

The northerners’ four tries were scored by Henry Lord, Nathan Thompson, David Keenan and Ethan Benjamin.

Matthew Clague converted two of them.

Vagabonds gained the best result of the day for the Manx sides with a 31-17 success at Congleton.

The bonus point success was achieved, courtesy of tries from Joe Louw (two) and Ross McCulloch (two) and 11 points from the boot of Leigh Kennaugh.

The result keeps them in 10th place.

Vagabonds B thrashed new boys Noa Nomads 41-0 in the sole game in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield.

The victory was achieved, thanks to four tries from Tom Gascoyne, two from Arno Cruywagen and one from Shaun Atkinson.

Jack Rowlands converted two and Aaron McFee one.
