Ravens move up to fourth in the table

FC Isle of Man staged a determined comeback to defeat Sandbach United 4-2 in Cheshire last night (9 November).

The Ravens found themselves behind after just 30 seconds before Sandbach then went on to double their lead on 37 minutes.

But the Manx side did pull one goal back before the break two minutes later when Jack McVey headed home from a Ste Whitley cross.

Into the second half, and with just over an hour gone (63 minutes) McVey then got his and FC IoM's second, slotting home a penalty after Mike Williams was brought down in the penalty area.

With less than 20 minutes to go the Island visitors then took the lead for the first time in the contest.

McVey became provider for Sean Doyle on 72 minutes, who calmly lobbed a ball into the net to make it 3-2.

With the game on a knife's edge, FC Isle of Man then made sure of the three points when Nathan Cardy capitalised on some poor work by the Sandbach Utd goalkeeper to pass home into an open net.

The fourth successive win for the Ravens lifts them up to fourth position in the NWCFL Div 1 South, four points clear of those outside the play-off places.

The Island team's next fixture will be at home against Rocester this Saturday (13 November) at 6.30pm.
