Five star Steve; Oram downs Peel

Golden Boot holder Steven Priestnal was the star as St Mary’s came from behind to defeat Corinthians in the Canada Life Premier League on Saturday.

A surprise looked on the cards when Danny Gerrard and Jamie Stoy fired the home side into a 2-0 lead.

However, that was the cue for Priestnal to go on a scoring rampage as the Saints hit seven with last season’s top scorer netting five of them.

Brian Crellin and Connor Gorman grabbed the others as St Mary’s finished 7-2 winners at Ballafletcher.

Running Priestnal close as player of the day was Danny Oram who hit a hat-trick as Laxey thrashed Peel 6-1 at Glen Road.

Ashley Webster and Fraser Vaughan (two) were also on target as the Miners sealed a memorable victory.

Daniel Bell notched the Peel consolation.

St George’s are the leaders after an 8-0 romp against Castletown.

Hat-tricks from Callum Morrissey and Frank Jones and two goals from Ciaran McNulty fired them to a comfortable home victory.

A shock looked on the cards at Croit Lowey at half-time after Jason Craine gave newly promoted Ramsey Youth Centre an interval lead.

However, FA Cup holders Rushen turned the match around after the break with Josh Kelly (two), Ashley Sansbury and Aaron Hawley finding the net.

Ramsey won 7-0 at Andreas in the most one-sided northern derby for some time.

A hat-trick from Jamie Moffitt and doubles from Matt Montgomery and Michael Fernandes ensured a miserable day for Ayre.

A Steve Glover hat-trick, two from Louis Morris and one from Richard Winn fired St John’s to a 6-2 success at home to Gymns.
