Football: Ayre United crowned men's premier league champions

Northern side seal title following draw last night (10 May)

Ayre United have been crowned champions of the Canada Life Men's Premier League.

They required only a draw last night (10 May) against Corinthians to secure the title and managed just that after both sides played out a goalless stalemate.

Meanwhile, Ayre's nearest challengers going into yesterday evening, Rushen United, went down 2-1 away at Laxey whilst in the north, Ramsey were 2-1 winners at home against Marown.

In Division 2 last night, Onchan thumped Pulrose United 10-1 whilst Castletown edged a nine-goal thriller against Gymns, winning by five goals to four - there were also wins last night in the division for St Johsn and Foxdale.

Tonight (11 May) sees the quarter-finals of the Ascot Hotel Junior Cup taking place alongside three fixtures across the Canada Life Combi 1 and Combi 2 divisions.

All matches will kick-off this evening at 6.30pm.
