Football: Defending prem champions Peel on the road in western clash

Top two in Division 2 return to action this weekend

Football action returns once more on the Isle of Man this weekend with defending Canada Life Men's Premier League champions, Peel facing fellow westerners among this weekend's ties.

They head to St John's United with Peel knowing a win tomorrow (8 November) could take them up as high as second and with at least one game in hand on the four teams currently above them.

Elsewhere, undefeated leaders Corinthians host Rushen United; second-placed Laxey are on a rest week and Onchan in third will be aiming to get back to winning ways against Douglas High School Old Boys (DHSOB.).

Heading into the latest gameweek, multiple premier league teams remain in mathematical contention for spots in this season's Railway Cup competition with the top four in the premier league qualifying at the halfway point of the season of 12 games.

In Division 2, the second-tier's top two sides - Castletown and Colby - return to action after both had a rest week six days ago.

Castletown are due to host Malew in a southern derby whilst Colby are on home soil up against winless Douglas & District.

On Sunday (9 November), the attention in Isle of Man women's football turns to cup competition with the opening two contests of this season's Canada Life Women's Floodlit Cup which as reverted to a solely 11-a-side format.

Rushen United face Onchan before Union Mills take on Douglas Royal with both matches being held at The Bowl in Douglas.
