Ramsey and Laxey to meet in repeat of 2024 showdown

Two more trophies will be up for grabs this weekend in what is set to be the final action of the 2024/25 Isle of Man football season.

First tomorrow (17 May) will be the Manx Quality Sheds Hospital Cup final as defending champions Ramsey face Laxey in what will be a repeat of the same final one year ago.

That'll be followed by the final of the Masters FA Cup as Colby take on Onchan on Sunday (18 May).

Both fixtures are due to take place at The Bowl in Douglas.

In Saturday's Hospital Cup showdown, Ramsey will be hoping for something like a repeat of the 2-1 win they claimed over their opponents in the same contest in late May 2024.

That day Ramsey came away 2-1 winners, courtesy of goals from Oliver Grice and Charlie Higgins after Brody Patience had initially given Laxey the lead.

During that contest, Laxey played the latter stages of the game with eight on the pitch as both Joe Walters and Jordan Cooper saw red whilst George Burrows was sent to the sin-bin.

In this campaign, just three points separated the two sides in the Canada Life Men's Premier as Ramsey finished sixth with 38 points and Laxey eighth on 35.

In the two meetings between them in the league this campaign, Ramsey emerged victorious on both occasions - first with a 3-2 win at the Ballacloan Stadium in September 2024 followed by a 5-1 win at Glen Road on 22 February this year.
