Wignall and Lisy strike late on in friendly win at The Bowl
A late comeback from the Isle of Man women's national football side has seen them claim a 2-1 friendly win over FC United of Manchester this afternoon (16 May).
The visitors took the lead at The Bowl in Douglas on nine minutes when Emily Walton converted from the penalty spot.
Trailing at the break, the Island hosts then struck back with 20 minutes to go courtesy of a Sarah Wignall strike from a free-kick.
With the contest in the dying stages, the Isle of Man got a decisive second to lead for the first time thanks to a Tia Lisy header on 88 minutes.
It's the second friendly success in seven days for the Islanders who also took a 4-2 victory at Preston North End last Saturday (9 May).
The next time the Isle of Man women's national team is due to be in action is at the 2026 Cherry Godfrey Cup in Guernsey from 26-27 June.
The Isle of Man will head into the competition as defending champions having won the inaugural event in Jersey in 2024.
