Manx side victorious in seven-goal thriller

The Isle of Man women's national football side has continued its positive preparations for the 2025 Island Games with a 4-3 friendly victory over Ynys Mon at the weekend.

Ynys Mon led inside just 26 seconds through Hannah Owen with the Isle of Man's Pippa Wallis equalising three minutes later with her first senior Isle of Man goal.

Owen netted again for Ynys Mon in the first period before Sarah O'Reilly equalised again for the Isle of Man from a free-kick just before half-time.

With just over 60 minutes played, the Isle of Man led for the first time through Tia Lisy before Ynys Mon's Casi Evans made it 3-3 with just a few minutes of normal time remaining.

However, Rebecca Cole converted from the penalty spot late on to hand the Isle of Man a last-gasp victory at Airbus Broughton UK.

This result makes it back-to-back friendly wins for the Isle of Man team after claiming a convincing 8-0 home win over Kendal Town ladies on 14 June.

The squad is due to take part in this year's Island Games in Orkney from 12-18 July.
