Manx player part of national side which competed in Turkey
Manx amputee footballer, Sean Jackson and England have finished third in their group in the 2025 EAFF Nations League.
Competing in Division A of the tournament in Trabzon, Turkey from 12-14 September, England went on to take four points from their three games with one win, one draw and one defeat.
Finishing as division winners were Poland who accrued seven points; hosts, Turkey claimed second spot with six points with Italy taking fourth without managing to get a single point on the board.
England had gone into the competition as defending champions having been crowned overall winners of the previous edition back in 2023.
For Jackson and England, their campaign in Turkey began with a meeting with eventual-division winners, Poland with both sides playing out a 2-2 draw on day one (12 September).
The following day saw England go one better as a single goal from Jamie Oakey handed them a narrow 1-0 win over Italy.
Lastly, the final group contest for England on 14 September saw them face a Turkey side which proved to be ruthless in front of goal, dispatching England 5-1.
The EAFF Nations League first launched in 2023 and is a biennial event to be played in the years where there are no international competitions such as the EAFF European Championships or WAFF World Cup.
Its format features 18 teams split across four divisions with each division taking place in a different country.
Division B is being held in Avila Spain from 25-29 September; Division C in Azerbaijan from 16-20 October and Division D in Romania from 30 October-3 November.
