Club says move aimed at supporting class amid uncertainty
The Andreas Racing Association (ARA) is making sidecar entries free for its meeting next month.
The club - which holds racing at Jurby Motordrome in the north of the Island - is waiving costs for three-wheeled machines for its event on Saturday, 11 July and Sunday, 12 July.
It comes after modern sidecars were suspended from this year's Isle of Man TT Races and also from the Southern 100 Road Races on the Billown Course which are taking place from 6-9 July.
Announcing the move, the ARA says sidecars 'are an important part of our club and sport', adding 'this is our way of giving something back and supporting the class.'
Both classic and modern three-wheelers will be eligible to take part in next month's ARA meeting.
Those interested in entering are asked to visit the Andreas Racing Association website and any questions can be sent via email to racesec@andreasracing.im.
Last week, the sidecar class was suspended for the remainder of this year's Isle of Man TT Races as a 'precautionary measure' on safety grounds.
Since then, TT officials have said this does not mark the end of the category on the Snaefell Mountain Course and they will consult with teams on the future of the machines after this year's event.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday this week (3 June), the Southern 100 Road Races confirmed a similar move to exclude modern sidecars from its 2026 meeting, commenting 'in light of the current uncertainties, surrounding the stability of modern sidecar designs under certain racing conditions, the club believes that running the class without a definitive, expert-led technical review would introduce an unacceptable level of risk.'
Following that, the Southern 100 has since announced plans to instead run classic sidecars at the July races as a 'contingency plan' whilst technical concerns with modern machinery are investigated.
The Southern 100 Club says it remains 'fully committed' to bringing modern sidecars back to the Billown Course in 2027.
