Geordies issue emphatic statement

Five games survived the weather in the top two divisions on Saturday – and there was no doubting the result of the day.

Reigning champions St George’s won 3-1 at Laxey to maintain their blistering start to the season and defeat another title rival.

Goals from Connor Doyle, Callum Morrissey and Chris Feeney sealed a fine victory as the Geordies maintained their 100 per cent record and issued another statement of intent.

Justin Hawley was the Miners’ scorer.

Elsewhere in the Sure Mobile Premier League, Peel put on a show to emerge 7-2 winners over Ramsey.

Doubles from Callum Gallagher and Kerron Christian, plus one each from Juan Killip, Kevin Megson and Neil Birchenough, secured an emphatic win for the home side.

Ashley Webster and an own goal were Ramsey’s only replies in the second half.

Steven Quine was a hat-trick hero as Union Mills edged an exciting seven goal contest at Colby.

Richard Cannell grabbed the other for the Millers with Chris McKenna (two) and Adam Fretwell notching the goals for newly-promoted Colby.

Two each from Martin Torr and Joe Morgan gave Ayre United a 4-2 win over Corinthians, for whom Josh Ridings and Chris Cannell found the net.

In the only game in CFS Division Two, Malew had a welcome 7-0 win at Northern Athletic – Juan Kinvig (two), Paul Whitley (two), player-manager David Kinrade, Craig Marsh and Adam Drewitt the scorers.
