Keith Gerrard struggled to 161st place at the National Collegiate Athletic Association Championships - the final cross-country race of the American season.
However, the Peel runner did help the University of New Mexico to a best ever 8th place.
Gerrard lined up for the event in Indiana knowing he was some way short of full fitness after a number of training difficulties leading up to the race.
