Gillings secures UK Sport funding

Manx snowboard crosser Zoe Gillings has managed to once again secure UK Sport podium funding.

It comes at a good time for the Ronague athlete as she continues to prepare for the next Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, in 2014.

Following the demise of Zoe's previous governing body - SnowsportGB - which went into administration seven days before the last Winter Olympics in Canada in 2010, her previous UK Sport funding was cancelled.

But Zoe got through it thanks to her sponsors; Pokerstars, BMW, Optimal Payments, Isle of Man Sport Aid, and some help from the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme.

She also set up IsleofDeals.com - a daily deals website based in the Isle of Man.

Zoe has used this support to run her World Cup SBX program over the last 12 months, which has been the most successful season of her career to date.

She finished it on the podium at the World Cup Finals in Valmalenco and ended the 2011/12 season with an overall world ranking of sixth.
