
Vagabonds B claimed second place in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield with a 17-0 home win over Ramsey B.
A Michael Oates penalty gave Vagas an early 3-0 lead.
In the 20th minute, Franzy Germishuys crossed for a try which Oates converted to put Vagas 10-0 in front – a lead they maintained until half time.
Ramsey were hoping to use the wind in the second half but a breakaway try by Vagas number eight John Coetzee and a conversion from Oates pushed Vagas’ lead out to 17-0 and Ramsey were unable to recover.
At Mooragh Park, reigning champions Ramsey eased past Emerging Nomads 44-0.
James McKenzie bagged a try as did Ryan Rhodes.
The Pritchard brothers, Tynan and Aneurin, picked up two apiece and veteran hooker Myles Ellis also crossed for his second of the season.
Stand-off Danny Turner kicked two conversions to make up Ramsey’s total.
At King Williams College, Southern Nomads also had a fairly comfortable victory over a plucky Western Vikings.
Nomads ran out 32-0 winners with tries coming from Jon Sleight (three), Rob Keelan, Kev Quantrill and Damian Brand.
In the final match of the afternoon, Douglas B beat Castletown 30-10 at Port-e-Chee.
Daley Watson and the evergreen Phil Garrett picked up two tries each, as did youngster Ryan Maddox.
An Ed Palmer try, plus a penalty and conversion from Gary Stephenson, made up Castletown’s total.
