System could help local players compete internationally in future

The Isle of Man has the potential to develop the next England and Great Britain stars in the sport of handball for the future.

Handball Isle of Man's 'futures programme' has now been officially designated as an England Handball Regional Academy talent pathway.

This means that local junior players will have direct access on Island to the system which helps athletes towards competing at international levels.

Following this development, Chair of Handball Isle of Man, Mick Hegarty believes it's not a matter of if Manx players can now go on to big things in the sport, but when:

Young players from school years seven and upwards are now being invited to take part in the first academy trial session which will be held at The Roundhouse in Braddan on Saturday, 28 June form 1pm to 4pm.

It will be an open session but those wishing to attend must register online beforehand
