Harrison haunts Geordies

Alex Harrison haunted his former club as St Mary’s kept alive their title hopes on Saturday.

The young midfielder scored the only goal of the game as the Saints defeated reigning champions St George’s.

The first half goal at the Bowl proved to be enough for St Mary’s to complete a league double over the Geordies who would have equalised only for Max Thomas to deny Callum Morrissey from the penalty spot in the second period.

Ramsey came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw home to Peel.

Terry Rigaux had fired Peel in front but Chris Halsall levelled to secure a fine point for the northerners.

St John’s suffered a blow in their bid to beat the drop.

An own goal meant they went down 1-0 at Corinthians to stay in trouble.

Rock bottom Union Mills fought hard again but were beaten 5-2 at Old Boys.

A double from Gary Quirk and one apiece from Sean Gavin, Dean France and Craig Stewart ensured Union Mills goals from Lee Christian and Nuno Sousa were consolations.
