Higgins wins Rally Isle of Man!

Manxman Mark Higgins and Irish co-driver Rory Kennedy clinched an excellent victory in Rally Isle of Man on Saturday.

They finished 11 seconds ahead of Eamonn Boland and Damien Morrissey to claim a fourth Rally Isle of Man victory in the closest finish in the event's history.

And it was a victory made even more satisfying as the production car pairing beat the Subaru World Rally Car of Boland and Morrissey in the process.

Guy Wilks and Phil Pugh were third with Mark's brother David Higgins and Ieuan Thomas in fourth, enough to retain the British Championship lead.

The next Manx finishers were Paul Curphey and Mark Perryman who finished in a fine 10th spot, Robin Callin and Christopher Reynolds in 26th and Wyn Humphrey and Rob Fagg 32nd.

After his success, local hero Higgins was delighted (audio file attached):
