Ladies Over-45's and Under-16 Girls take victories
Two Isle of Man national teams took victories last weekend to progress in the England Hockey (EH) Championships competitions.
The Ladies Over'45's and Under-16 Girls emerged victorious in their respective fixtures as two of three Manx squads in action on Sunday, 18 January.
In a tense showdown, the Isle of Man Under-16 Girls were on target through Ashton Fick in a 1-1 draw in normal time against Leek in the EH U16 Girls Tier 2 Plate before the Islanders went on to take the win on penalty shuffles.
Elsewhere, goals from Donna Harrison, Elaine Wiseman and Jo Quine saw the Ladies Over-45's secure a 3-1 victory against Deeside Ramblers during the latest phase of the EH Women's Over-45s Vase competition.
Meanwhile, it was a different story for the Isle of Man Under-18 Girls as they fell to a narrow 3-2 defeat against Timperley in the EH Girls U18 Tier 2 KO Championship with the Manx side's goals coming from Fearne Bregazzi and Macey Crellin.
As a result, the Under-18's side will drop into the competition below, the EH U18 Girls Tier 2 Plate going forward.
All three teams in action last weekend join the Isle of Man Under-14 Boys and Girls teams in reaching the fourth round of their respective age group tournaments.
