Island success overseas at weekend

McCanney brothers on top in Germany

The McCanney brothers ended the World Enduro Championship season with strong performances in Germany.

Jamie McCanney was the E2 winner on Sunday and third on Saturday.

However, despite his best performance of the season, Jamie finished just six points behind new World Champion Josep Garcia.

Older brother Daniel also made the top step on the first day and was second on Sunday.

He finished fifth in the overall Championship standings.

World Superbike Champion Jonathan Rea completed a further double win at the latest round at Jerez in Spain.

The Castletown resident secured his third title in a row in France a few weeks ago.

LCR Honda rider Cal Crutchlow was fifth at the Australian round of MotoGP at Phillip Island.

And Robbie Callister was the winner of the African Centurion Race Walk at Robben Island in South Africa.

Second in the 100 mile contest was Andrew Titley.
