Isle of Man 3D Archery Championships Results

Corkill conquers in closely fought battle

Bowderyn Vannin Field Archery Club held their 3D Championships at the weekend.

A new course of 16 3D animals were set out in the East Baldwin Valley. It was a closely fought battle for the Championship title with John Corkill shooting the top score with his compound bow just 4 points ahead of Ron Ellison shooting a Barebow Recurve.

Three archers were in contention for the Bronze medal with Rodger Sleight clinching it by four points shooting his Traditional Recurve bow. Debbie Hay was the highest scoring lady finishing in 5th place.

The course was set on two sides of the river with distances from 5 metres to 40 metres. A variety of 3D targets was set out in challenging woodland.

Gold - John Corkill 264, Silver- Ron Ellison 260, Bronze - Rodger Sleight 248, 4th – Geoff Court 244, 5th – Debbie Hay 242, 6th – Bill Callow 230, 7th – Mick Court 224, 8th = Nigel Harrison , Lesley Sleight 208, 10th – H. Richard 204, 11th – Caron Harrison 184.

Field Archery is an all year round sport with activities ranging from recreation to International competitions. Bowderyn Vannin Archery Club has two permanent courses.
