Jamie Coward injured in cycling collision

TT rider suffers hip injuries

TT rider Jamie Coward has suffered a fractured pelvis after colliding with a car whilst cycling.

The Yorkshire racer was travelling up to Scotland to join his team yesterday ahead of the Armoy Road Races in Northern Ireland when he stopped to cycle in the Lakes.

His team, KTS Racing, say 'during his ride a car pulled out in front of him causing Jamie to nearly end up through his windscreen.'

'He has injured his hip and is awaiting an X-ray in Lancaster hospital.'

The team has withdrawn from Armoy.

Coward's girlfriend has issued an update this afternoon (27 July) to say the rider is 'doing okay' and it's currently hoped he will be able to recover without requiring surgery.

He is undergoing further checks with more information expected in the coming days.

Sophie Senior is also thanking people for their messages of support as well as hospital staff.

It's not yet known if the incident will prevent the 32-year-old from participating in next month's Manx Grand Prix.
