Senior and junior athletes impress across two championships
Jiu-jitsu competitors of Summit Grappling Academy have secured five medals during their latest competition in Europe.
The Island club enjoyed success across both the IBJJF Rome Open and IBJJF Kids European Championships which ran alongside each other in Italy last weekend.
In the Rome Open for senior competitors, Hayley Curtis claimed two gold medals across her division and the open weight category in her return to competition after a lengthy recovery from injury.
Elsewhere, coach Sarah Redmond took gold by default as there was no opposition in her weight class.
Meanwhile, the academy's junior squad took on the Kids European Championship with both Alan Greenhalgh and Hanako Henson taking silver medals in their respective competitions.
Speaking on the results, the academy says the performances across the board show 'great promise' as they prepare for the British Open in eight weeks time.
