June over the moon

A sixth place finish in yesterday's final round of the HSBC Securities Services Winter Walking League was enough for June Melvin to claim the 10km title.

She topped the standings ahead of Wendy Ross and Jock Waddington, who were second and third respectively.

The race winner was Alan Pilling with an adjusted time of 85.38, with Kath Colquitt and Jim Caley making up the top three.

The 5km title ended up being shared by Andrew Boardman and Jacqui Dawson, who finished the season with 393 points each.

Brenda Charlton was third.

The round itself was won by Richard Bell, who came home ahead of Brian Brough and Dot Watterson.

In an incredibly tight end to the 3km category Adam Cowin finished one second ahead of James Green after adjustment.

This meant Adam won the title by a single point, again pipping James at the post.

In the 2km Jessica Isherwood and Hannah Kelly shared the spoils, finishing the season on 395 points with Alexandra Ross third on 393.
