David Knight retained the Grand National Cross Country Series with victory at the Can-Am Unadilla GNCC in New Berlin, New York, yesterday.
Knighter powered his way around the muddy track to win the race while nearest rival Paul Whibley ran out of fuel on the last lap and failed to finish in the top five, handing him the title with two rounds to spare.
Speaking afterwards he said “That's a real shame what happened to Whibs there, he's ridden well all year and didn't deserve to lose it like that”.
“We didn't expect to win the championship here, I was just trying to get into the lead and enjoy the track, really. The roost was so bad that it was hard to race anyone.”
