Loaghtyn through to Tinker semis

Loaghtyn Rams grabbed the remaining Tinker Cup semi-final spot at the expense of Valkyres on Sunday evening.

Set a target of 179 to win by their opponents Loaghtyn achieved it with one wicket to spare, thanks in no small part to Will Wood's 62 and a 43 from Simon Beard.

Abdul Khan was the pick of Valkyres' bowlers, grabbing 3-34 while Keith Brew took 2-30.

Earlier Keith top scored with the bat, hitting 44 runs while Brian Quirk scored 30.

Harry Rothwell took 3-33 and Will Wood pitched in with a handy 2-22 for Loaghtyn.

In Twenty20 Division Three Castletown C beat Ramsey C by 61 runs.

Rob Karran and Ian Blackhurst had starring stints at the crease for Town, hitting 67 not out and 61 respectively as the southerners finished with 189-3 off their allocated overs.

Alex Yates picked up 1-16 while Mark Oldfield claimed 1-29.

But Brian Arnold's 24 and Daniel Kelly's 22 weren't enough as the northerners ended up with 128-8.

And St John's B beat Finch Hill by six runs in a relatively low-scoring match.

The Saints mustered 83-4, Graham Shimmin helping himself to 30 and Morgan Guy hitting an unbeaten 12.

Roy Corlett kept it tight for the home side, picking up 2-9 while Andy Brown took 1-11.

But Finch Hill could only manage 77-6 in reply.

Peter Foxton hit 24 and Adam Corlett 17, while Chris Duff and Dean Wales grabbed two wickets apiece for 15 and 17 runs respectively for the Saints.
