Ladies' senior side wins NW County Championship
The Isle of Man ladies' senior hockey side is celebrating after winning the North Women's County Championship for the first time in dramatic circumstances at the weekend.
Winning three and drawing one of their matches, the Island took the title on goal difference ahead of Yorkshire, thanks in no small part to a 10-0 demolition of Cumbria in their final match.
Their other matches saw them beat Lancashire (3-1) and Durham (3-2) on Saturday and draw (2-2) with Yorkshire on Sunday.
Kim Carney was the top scorer for the Island, hitting seven goals during the tournament.
Freya Duchars scored her first goal for the Isle of Man in the opening match against Lancashire, while Georgia Foxton scored in the same match on what was her Island debut.
