Manx Road Club Team launch

Despite the storm force winds there was a good turnout for the Manx Road Club social ride.

Two groups set off from the NSC, riding around the south of the Island before heading back to Ard Jerkyll tea rooms.

Stars present on the ride were Great Britain riders Mark Cavendish, Jonny Bellis and Peter Kennaugh, Olympic Development Programme members Mark Christian and Chris Whorrall plus Tim Kennaugh of the Talent Team and several riders from other Manx cycling clubs.

Meanwhile, Mark Christian won the Bikestyle Hamper Race after dropping early breakaway partner Andrew Cook towards the end of the 20 mile race, which was held in Jurby.

Third place went to Peter Kennaugh, with Mark Cavendish in fourth after they also broke clear from the main bunch at mid distance.

The handicap prize went to Steve Hull.

And there was a large turnout of friends for the James Berry memorial ride yesterday (Sunday) morning.

Ken Berry and Dot Tilbury both spoke words of reflection where James's accident took place.
