Manx Rugby Round-up

Ramsey B and Vagabonds Hornets win in Ravenscroft Manx Bowl

There was no change at the top of the Manx Bowl standings with both top teams claiming bonus point wins. Ramsey beat Western Vikings 73-29 at Mooragh Park while Vagabonds disposed of Emerging Nomads 56-19 at Ballafletcher.

Despite losing Matt Meechan to a yellow card after just two minutes, it was Ramsey who took the lead through Josh Corteen. Corteen’s second and a score from Jack Roberts pushed the Ramsey lead to 17-0 before Josh Hockney and Harry Goodwin crossed for Vikings to restore the balance. Matt Meechan and Conor Cracknell then went in a minute apart for Ramsey with Darragh Pilkington converting to extend the lead. Hockney’s second of the game converted by Ciaran Stephens saw Vikings trailing 29-17 at half time. Ramsey piled on the pressure in the second half with Connor Casey bagging two, Josh Corteen completing his hat trick, plus scores from Dale Radcliffe, Ben Hardman, Joe Flanagan and Will Olsen with Darragh Pilkington making three conversions and a penalty. Ollie Bowles and Sam Fletcher both crossed for Vikings with Bowles adding a conversion.

At Ballafletcher, a Cam Findlay hat trick was the highlight as Vagas eased past Emerging Nomads. Mark Oldfield ran in two and there were also tries from Euan Ellis, Ed Alderson, Aaron Ledingham, Orry McClean and Connor Coulthard. Messrs Alderson and Findlay converting five between them. Orry Watterson crossed twice for Nomads and Jon Jurczynski picked up his first senior try. Watterson added a conversion as did George Callister.
