Defeat for Douglas

No joy for Douglas at Carlisle

Douglas were unable to claim back to back away wins in North One West as they went down 28-12 away at bottom side Carlisle. Tries from James Telford and Nathan Greenhow, both converted by Telford gave the Cumbrians a 14-0 half time lead. Second half tries from Chris Auld and Angus Fulton, both converted by Telford extended the lead to 28-0 before Douglas fought back. Kyle Martin struck in the fifty fourth minute to put Douglas on the board but they couldn’t capitalise until the final minute when Harry Hewson crossed and Luke Hyland converted.

Vikings and Hornets win in Ravenscroft Manx Plate

In the Manx Plate Western Vikings edged out Ramsey B 52-36 in a try-fest at QE2 while Vagabonds Hornets overcame Emerging Nomads 34-7 at Ballakilley.

Josh Hockney and Jack Goodwin both picked up early tries for Vikings and Ryan Burke’s conversions secured a 14-0 lead. Toby Poole-Wilson picked up Vikings third but tries from Ramsey’s Connor Casey and Danny Howard plus a Darragh Pilkington conversion reduced the lead to 19-10 as half time approached. Two quick scores from Vikings however dented the Ramsey revival. Morgan Armstrong Paton and Ed Knight both went over late in the half and with Burke’s conversions the half time score was 33-12 to the Peel men. Poole-Wilson bagged his second just after the restart before Ramsey fought back. Danny Howard and Dan Richmond both went in for Ramsey and they were closely followed by a Jake Richmond double which brought Ramsey to within four. Ryan Burke and Jack Goodwin though finished it off at the other end with tries late in the game.

At Ballkilley, Vagas Hornets were too strong for Nomads. Cole Donnelly, Paul Howard, Stephan de Beer, Matt Rockwell, Callum Murray and Harri Wallis all crossed for Vagas with Ed Alderson and Harri Wallis kicking a conversion apiece.
